We’ve waited and waited. The time has finally come. The end of the Skywalker saga is at hand. And now we know a little bit more of what that will look like. Disney just released the first Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer.

There is so much to unpack, but the title is the first thing that strikes an interesting chord. The “rise” of something is, obviously, typically at its beginning, not its end. This raises all sorts of questions about which Skywalker we’re actually talking about here.

Another interesting note is when a voiceover of Luke Skywalker says, “No one is really gone.” Disney seems to be telling its longtime audience: Don’t worry; even though we’re moving on, none of your beloved characters is really gone. Personally, that makes me a happy camper.

There’s so much else we could dive into (like that epic backflip from Rey! or that maniacal VO laugh! or the cute new droid with BB-8 that looks straight out of Pixar! BILLY DEE WILLIAMS!), but I’ll leave all that for another time (podcast much?).

For now, just sit back, relax (if you can), and enjoy the first Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer. (Complete with a J.J. Abrams heavy-breathing opener just like Episode VII’s first teaser trailer.)
