Disney dropped another awesome-sauce bomb this morning. They announced that Maleficent 2 will be moving forward from May 29, 2020, to October 18th, 2019! The movie is titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Disney also released a brand new poster to go along with this exciting announcement.
It will come out a week or so before Halloween, which has not traditionally been a great time for the box office. That said, the first installment in this film series grossed well over $700 million globally in 2014.
The director for the sequel is Joachim Ronning. He also directed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales from 2017, so he’s no stranger to the Disney universe and process. Angelina Jolie will reprise her role as the evil sorceress.
