HUGE NEWS! James Gunn, who was ousted as the director for the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise over some previous missteps, has been reinstated. He did a phenomenal job with the first two movies. When he was let go, the cast was…well…they were not very happy about it.

Needless to say, I’m sure they are all thrilled that he’s back. Especially Bautista (who plays Drax). Twitter, for one, is exploding with emotion at the moment.

UPDATE: Including the man himself. James Gunn tweeted his gratitude about the whole experience.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 took in over $773 million globally. Vol. 2 brought in a whopping $863 million itself. Gunn is clearly doing something right.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was supposed to begin principal filming in Atlanta during the fall of 2018. The latest installment of the franchise was originally set to be released sometime in 2020, although now a 2021 release is far more likely, with filming probably starting up again next year. Gunn is also the screenwriter for Vol. 3.
