We just got the awesome news about the Frozen 2 Documentary Series coming to Disney Plus, and now the streaming service just made a huge announcement about the Muppets!

What do we know so far?

About the Muppets Now on Disney Plus

Disney announced it as part of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+’s celebration of National #StreamingDay.

If you can still remember, Kermit the Frog teased the new series last August 2019.

Now the other Muppets joined the official announcement!

The unscripted show will be available on July 31, Friday, in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and India.

Here’s how Disney Plus described the synopsis of the series:

“Muppets Now is The Muppets Studio’s first original series for Disney+. In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming. They are due now, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.”

It was even described as “overflowing with spontaneous lunacy, surprising guest stars and more frogs, pigs, bears (and whatevers) than legally allowed, the Muppets cut loose in Muppets Now with the kind of startling silliness and heartfelt fun that first made them famous.”

There’s even a fun thread by the stars of the series about the key art.

Why Muppets Now Is Exciting

This will be the first time that the Muppets will come back together for television after their 17-episode mockumentary series The Muppets on ABC last 2015.

I personally loved that show, but it was canceled after just one season.

The Muppets followed the personal and professional lives of the many Muppets running a talk show, and it was filmed in the style of The Office.

In short, Muppets Now is exciting because it’s been five years since we last saw them on our screens.

Plus, right now, the world could really use the zaniness and fun that the whole Muppets gang brings!

What We’re Hoping to See on Muppets Now

We’re expecting to see the main characters like Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, Scooter, and Animal.

We’re also hoping to see the supporting characters, including Dr. Teeth, Sam Eagle, Bunsen Honeydew, and Bobo the Bear.

Also, we’re looking forward to seeing the minor characters like Bean Bunny and Crazy Harry, because…well, why not!

Anyway, the involvement of the main characters is already a guarantee that it’s going to be a fun series.

Given that this is the Muppets we’re talking about, it’s safe to say we’re expecting mayhem, hilarious lines, and original content!

We don’t know anything else aside from the synopsis, key art, and description that Disney+ has released so far.

We do know that this will be a fun-filled series thanks to the unique personality of each Muppet.

If the season goes well, I would love to see a second and third season as well. I personally think that one season just isn’t enough time for these characters to truly shine.

We just have to see how it goes, but I’m feeling optimistic!

Anyhow, if anything new about Muppets Now comes out, you can be sure to find it here.

And be sure to check out the Muppets coloring book for adults. It’s 100% certified Muppets awesomeness.

In the meantime, I suggest you rewatch the Muppets’ version of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. 🙂
