1. The Fun of Achieving the Impossible

"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." - Walt Disney Quote
“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” – Walt Disney Quote

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

Walt Disney

Whenever you need a little inspiration, look no further than Walt Disney, the man behind the mouse. He achieved the impossible dream by turning Mickey Mouse into a household name.

If you read a Disney biography, you find that Walt made animation a worldwide favorite at a time when many people hardly even knew what it was. Disney was always looking for new ways to achieve what people thought wasn’t possible. The Walt Disney Company continues the work of that great and wonderful dream today.

Alice in Wonderland says it’s possible to think as many as 6 impossible things before breakfast. So, with Walt Disney as your own magical inspiration, you too can say, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.”

2. The Key Is Getting Started

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing." - Walt Disney Quote
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” – Walt Disney Quote

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.

Walt Disney

It’s great to plan and get ready to take the leap into action. But nothing will ever get done if we only talk. Instead, we have to make the jump and start doing the thing – whatever the thing is!

What if Walt Disney had sat around talking about Mickey Mouse (or Mortimer Mouse!) all the time? If he never actually drew any pictures, we would never get the magic of his animated cartoons and movies and TV shows that we all love today.

Whatever you want to do, get out there and start doing it. There is no better time than now, and there is no better day than today. Walt himself said it best: “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”

3. Curiouser and Curiouser…

"When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do." - Walt Disney Quotes
“When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.” – Walt Disney Quotes

“When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.”

Walt Disney

If you can’t tell, I’m a big Alice in Wonderland fan. In that movie, we hear the phrase “curiouser and curiouser”. It’s no surprise then that Walt Disney valued curiosity so highly.

To quote another famous person, Albert Einstein once said, “I have no particular talent. I am merely inquisitive.” Which is really just another fancy way of saying curious.

When you have a desire to find things out, to learn, to experiment and explore, the world never ceases to amaze. I think that’s exactly why Walt said, “When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.”

4. The Power of Dreams

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney Quotes
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney Quotes

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

Walt Disney

This is one of my personal favorite quotes of all time. We all know that everybody has dreams, but it takes a special person to help us believe in ourselves and in the power of our own dreams.

Well, that’s exactly what Disney did! And he had his own life to prove it. He believed in himself and found the bravery he needed to step out into the world and make it happen. He got things done that nobody else believed possible.

What’s your dream, the one thing you want more than anything else in the whole world? Take Walt’s advice. When you build up the determination, you can do it. Remember this: “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

5. The Magic of Reading a Good Book

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt Disney Quotes

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”

Walt Disney

As a big reader all my life, I can personally vouch for the treasure in books. There’s nothing like a great story to take you off to an enchanted island or a pirate ship.

Our imagination can never be tamed or stopped. There’s nothing in all the world or galaxy or universe as magical as a great story well told.

Storytelling is at the heart of Disney’s magic. Walt Disney believed first and foremost in the power of stories to transform people’s lives. This is what makes Disney movies and theme parks so special. So next time you need inspiration, keep Walt’s words in mind: “There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”

6. Dare to Dream

"First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare." - Walt Disney Quotation
“First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.” – Walt Disney Quotation

“First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.”

Walt Disney

In the order of getting things done, we may often find ourselves lost in dreams first. There’s nothing wrong with this. But Walt Disney says we might want to reorder our plans a little bit.

He said it was best to think out what we want. Then to believe that we can achieve it. He only recommends dreaming once we’ve already thought it through and believed in ourselves.

That way the final part – the daring – comes quick on the heels of one of the most powerful things humans have: our dreams. So, for your next big chapter, remember Walt’s words: “First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.”

7. Never Quit

"“The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.” - Walt Disney Quotations
““The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.” – Walt Disney Quotations

“The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.”

Walt Disney

Walt Disney never ever quit. Along with so many of the greats, this seems to be the one thing that they all have in common. They never gave up.

That is a hard to lesson for many of us to learn. Sometimes, when the going gets tough, it’s easy to just let our foot off the gas and take a breather. If we can just keep going, though, the break comes after the tough part.

So many of the most successful people in history have said some version of these words. It would probably benefit all of us to listen to them. As Disney put it, “The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting.”

8. People Make all the Difference

“You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality.” - Walt Quote
“You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality.” – Walt Quote

“You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality.”

Walt Disney

The most wonderful ideas can start with one person. You can even create something truly great on your own or with the help of a few others. Many great and wonderful things start from humble beginnings.

But ideas and creations need to be shown to the world. The best pieces of art and entertainment shouldn’t only exist in a closet. That’s the whole meaning of this great quote from Walt Disney.

In other words, just remember that other people give value to our creations as much as our works give value to other people. As Disney himself said, “You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality.”

9. Be Like Peter Pan and the Lost Boys

"That's the real trouble with the world. Too many people grow up." - Walt Quotes
“That’s the real trouble with the world. Too many people grow up.” – Walt Quotes

“That’s the real trouble with the world. Too many people grow up.”

Walt Disney

Personally, this is one of my favorite Disney quotes of all time. I very much believe that he was right about this. Too many people forget the magic in the world and “grow up” and lose that childlike joy.

Disneyland was created as an antidote to that. Walt wanted to build a place that people could come to and be children again, no matter how old they are. And that’s exactly what it feels like when you’re there, or at Walt Disney World, or any of the other great Disney Parks.

Of course, Walt wanted the joy of Disneyland to be experienced even when we’re away. For that, we have the stories, the movies, the characters, the memories, and so much more. Never stop being a child. Keep Disney’s words close to your heart: “That’s the real trouble with the world. Too many people grow up.”

10. Why We Need Competition

“I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn’t know how to get along without it.” - Disney Quote
“I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn’t know how to get along without it.” – Disney Quote

“I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn’t know how to get along without it.”

Walt Disney

I don’t know about you, but competition doesn’t always seem like such a great thing. That being said, sometimes it is exactly what we need to push us further and drive us harder than ever before.

Think about it for just a moment. What would a sports game bel like if the players didn’t care who wins the game? It wouldn’t have nearly the same excitement or meaning.

Walt Disney seems to be saying something similar applies in life too. Whatever we’re working on, sometimes all we need is to look at the others doing it and find encouragement from the “competition”. Here’s how Walt put it: “I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn’t know how to get along without it.”

11. For the Love of Mickey Mouse

"I love Mickey Mouse more than any woman I have ever known." - Disney Quotes
“I love Mickey Mouse more than any woman I have ever known.” – Disney Quotes

“I love Mickey Mouse more than any woman I have ever known.” – Disney Quotes

Walt Disney

Alright, this one is just for fun. I think we all know that Walt Disney loved Lillian more than anything, but it stands to reason that Mickey Mouse was probably a very close second!

So many of us love Mickey Mouse (and his many magical friends!). As the real-life father of Mickey Mouse, it makes sense that Disney would love his “son” as much as anything else in his life.

What do you love more than anything? Give that person or thing one extra hug today! Like Mickey’s dad said, “I love Mickey Mouse more than any woman I have ever known.” 🙂
