With the release of the new Thor: Love and Thunder movie trailer, you may be wondering about the characters in the new film. Naturally, the brand new release of the teaser trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has many fans of the MCU wondering about the characters in the film.

In particular, people are clamoring to know: “Is Natalie Portman the new Thor?”

Another question that keeps popping up is this: “Is Natalie Portman in the new Thor movie?

That second question is much easier to answer, because we know for a fact that she is in the movie.

AKA…

Is Natalie Portman in the new Thor movie? Yes! Natalie Portman plays Jane Foster in the new movie, which is called Thor: Love and Thunder.

So, we do know that Natalie Portman’s for sure in the upcoming movie.

But the biggest question of all at the moment has more to do with whether or not she becomes the new Thor and takes the mantle from Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since the MCU now spans across the movie theater screen and the Disney+ streaming platform, it’s a very important question to answer!

Let’s talk about Jane Foster!

At the very end of the trailer, you can clearly see Natalie Portman’s character, Jane Foster, wielding Mjolnir.

As a side note: Yes, we do say wielding instead of holding, because of what a big deal it is for someone to be able to actually use the hammer in the Marvel world. Don’t believe me? Just watch the scene below from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In other words…

This is a very big deal, and seeing her wielding Mjolnir in the trailer means that she has proven herself worthy of doing so (much like another Avenger…).
