There used to be a Free Trial for new subscribers to Disney Plus, but it has since been removed for the time being.

As of June 2020, there is currently no existing Disney+ free trial.

Why is there no free trial for Disney Plus?

The answer to this question is simple, but requires some explanation.

First, it’s important to remember that The Walt Disney Company as a whole has an absolutely enormous library of content.

From Star Wars to Marvel, Pixar to Disney Animation, from National Geographic to Fox, there’s a huge catalogue available.

Surprisingly enough, there are even a ton of movies and TV shows that are not even on Disney Plus yet!

With this massive selection available and new content being produced all the time, Disney has had no difficulty at all in acquiring new users for their relatively new streamer.

They have Netflix and Hulu and Prime to compete with, among others, but none of those have Disney’s intellectual property (IP). Disney is very much in a league of its own when it comes to movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more.

With all this in mind, it’s not a major shock that Disney Plus decided to remove the free trial option at this time.

Also, with the low entry point of $6.99/month, it’s an inexpensive streaming platform option, compared to the others mentioned above.

Of course, Disney could always choose to put a free trial back on the streaming platform, but it seems unlikely that they would need to at this point.
