What Is Disney Investor Day?
Before we leap into all the exciting movie and TV show announcements from Disney’s Investor Day 2020, it’s important to get at least one big question out of the way…
What is Disney Investor Day? It’s the days during any given year that Disney makes a presentation of their current assets and plans for future growth for the benefit of investors. They also have investor calls that happen on a quarterly basis, just like other publicly traded companies.
In other words:
It’s a way for Disney to tell people that hold shares of Disney ($DIS) — or want to hold shares of Disney — about the state of the company.
You can sort of think of it as like a State of the Union address, but just for Disney. Instead of the President giving the address, it’s a talk given by the CEO and other major leaders over at Disney. The Disney CEO right now is Bob Chapek.
Now that we know what Disney Investor Day is, let’s dive into the good stuff!
Disney Investor Day Announcements 2020
Here’s the stuff you really came here to see…
The question on everybody’s minds right now is this:
What did Disney announce at Disney Investor Day 2020?
First of all, they announced A LOT OF STUFF. Like, it’s so much stuff that’s it’s a little dizzying just to think about it, much less take it all in!
With that in mind, here is EVERYTHING that Disney announced at Disney Investor Day 2020.
Here’s a sort of big picture version of everything coming. On the official Walt Disney Company website, they write:
I told you! It’s A LOT of stuff!
Overall, the The Walt Disney Company Investor Day 2020 page says that one of the overarching goals is to produce “100+ New Titles Per Year for Disney+”.
Think about that for just a second. Over 100 new titles for Disney Plus…
EVERY!
SINGLE!!
YEAR!!!
It’s honestly hard to fathom that much content, but guess what? I’M HERE FOR IT. And my guess is that you are, too!
Now, if you want to see the individual shows and movies, you can just scroll down the page.
One sort of sad note: No Muppets announcements. None at all. Zero. Zip. Zilch. The Muppets have long been on the back burner for Disney. I hope that the success of the new Muppets NOW and Earth to Ned will bring a renewed spotlight on some of the world’s most favorite puppets.
These are all slides from the official investor presentation, which you can actually download for free right here.
Note: For each film, documentary, show, series, docuseries, sports, or other title, you can find the expected platform and release date or year listed next to it, if it is available. If the info is not known, you’ll either see a question mark (for no known info) or just no release date (if we know the platform, but not the expected release). Also, on a very small number of titles, I have written some personal notes, like which ones are my personal favorites. Bet you won’t guess which ones! 😉
